Redesign – A Hyundai Elantra with a Facelift

Sometimes all you need is a visual change or redesign to give you the feeling of excitement and make the drive more fun for you, at least that’s what Hyundai is hoping. One of our favorite compact sedans is receiving a facelift for the 2019 model year to give us a bit more to please our eyes. The Hyundai Elantra will offer a Sport trim that has a striking new face to get you started in the enjoyment of a car that’s made to offer you more fun when you get behind the wheel, even though the powertrain isn’t changed at all.

Start The fun of the Elantra Sport

The major changes for this car start with a set of triangular headlights and a new grill with sharp creases on it. As we’ve seen in the past, the Sport model will have its own unique grille, wheels, and body kit to go along with a sportier interior trim to give us a car that looks like it’s ready to give us an aggressive and fun drive on the road. The interior of this car gives us red leather upholstery, a reworked center console, new climate control buttons, and new air vents.

The Mechanical Aspects Remain Unchanged

If you expect the Elantra Sport redesign to offer you more power and improved driving dynamics when compared to the standard model, you won’t find this at all. The Sport trim still comes standard with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive. You do have the choice of either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission for the drive you want to enjoy. This powertrain is the higher level of power for the base models of the Elantra, and in the Sport trim, it seems that you can have the looks that go with the power.

Upgrades Underneath, Where You Need Them

This trim redesign does give you an upgraded rear suspension with a multilink setup that’s different from the standard torsion beam setup in the standard model. The Sport model will also give you larger front and rear brakes, 18-inch wheels, and tires that are 225-width to give you a stronger track and the ability to have a lot more fun when you drive this car. That means you’ll have a more dynamic drive on the road when you choose this impressive car.
