The Pros and Cons of the BMW Gran Coupe

BMW has taken things to a small size with the 2021 2 Series Gran Coupe. This little car is a bit of an enigma for most of us to behold.

As an affordable luxury car, it’s right where you want it, but if you’re looking for the FWD models from BMW, you won’t find it in this car. When you want a fun car to drive, this car has is right for you, but the style might not be right for you.

A Great Starting Point for You

The lineup for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe includes two models. The base model is the 228i xDrive and the upgraded trim is the M235i xDrive model. While being built on anFWD platform, this little car is only offered with AWD, which works great. The base version brings you LED headlights, parking sensors, a split-folding rear seat, forward collision warning, and Apple CarPlay.

The Upgraded BMW Gran Coupe Brings More Power

While the base version only brings you 228 horsepower, the M235i model packs more for your drive with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that brings you 301 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. This car does a great job of carving up the corners and being a champion on the road. The M-tuned suspension is a big positive for the M235i version as are the 19-inch wheels with the low-profile run-flat tires. As a sports car from the M Division, you can certainly feel the ride and know that you can be in concert with the road around you. The headroom is lacking in this little car, which is a bit of a drawback for those that are over six-feet tall and want to enjoy this small and active BMW.

Style Matters in the Gran Coupe

The interior of this small BMW is well-crafted with soft leather and an excellent sound system. Unfortunately, the exterior is a bit off compared to other models in the market. It would have been better if this new car looked more like the other BMW models and wasn’t as much of a departure. Regardless of the outside, you can have a great drive and enjoy everything offered inside this little car.
