The Mercedes-Benz EQG Taking Electric Power to New Levels
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is an iconic vehicle with a reputation for having the ability to conquer anything and everything. The G-Wagon is one of the most capable vehicles on the market, with excellent on-road manners and incredible off-road capabilities.
Mercedes-Benz, like many other automakers, is making the shift from combustion engines to electric, and with this shift, they are introducing the EQG. If you want to move away from smaller cars, such as the Mercedes C-Class coupe, take a closer look at the new EQG.
What is the Mercedes-Benz EQG?
The new EQG will have the boxy style that makes the G-Class SUVs stand out and will have the same off-road capabilities. Power for this new Mercedes will come from four electric motors, one for each of the wheels. The concept version of the EQG had a shiftable 2-speed gearbox to give the driver more control when driving over rough terrain. It will also have an independent rear suspension for a smoother on-road ride.
Is your Mercedes C-Class coupe becoming too small for your needs? When the new EQG arrives on Mercedes-Benz dealer lots, it just might be the answer.
So What Will the EQG Get for Range?
The biggest question with any electric vehicle is what type of range does it get? At its original release, this new electric G-Wagon is expected to get a range somewhere between 250 and 300 miles on a full charge.
Mercedes recently announced that the EQG will have next-generation battery technology that they’ve developed with the firm Sila. The silicone anode battery will have up to 40% improvement in energy density, which allows the battery to get the same range but with a smaller pack. This technology will arrive as an option for the EQG sometime around 2025.
The Mercedes-Benz EQG and the G-Turn
Having a motor for each of the wheels gives the EQG more than just impressive horsepower; it also gives it the ability to make a G-Turn. This is an off-road trick that makes a complete 360-degree turn on its own axis. Picture a tank turning around in place, and you’ll get an idea of what the EQG can do. The driver will be able to control the turn using paddle shifters.
Get Ready to Upgrade Your Off-Road Ride
When you get inside the EQG, it should have a similar layout to the latest G-Class. It will most likely have the latest generation MBUX infotainment system. The newest version is faster and more responsive than the previous generation. It uses artificial intelligence to give drivers and passengers in the Mercedes a more personalized experience. Its touch screen will have controls for the seat positions, driving modes, and phone options, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
When you are ready to upgrade your ride, whether you are in a Mercedes C-Class coupe and need something larger or you are ready to tackle the trails in an eco-friendly SUV, the upcoming Mercedes EQG will have everything you need.
