New Power for a New Generation GMC Acadia
The next generation GMC Acadia is on its way. The new third generation will arrive for the 2024
model year, larger than the previous generation and with a new look inside and out. One of the
biggest questions that experts have been wondering is what will power this Acadia. Well, we
now have some answers, and it’s all-new, just like the SUV.
New Turbocharged Power
When you lift the hood of the 2024 GMC Acadia, it will reveal a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-
cylinder gas engine. This new engine will be a part of General Motors CSS or Cylinder Set
Strategy family of engines with four different models already in the works. The CSS engine will
feature a rear take-down exhaust, optimized fuel economy, and optimized power. The new 2.5-
liter version that’s in the works for the Acadia will be related to the 2.7-liter that’s currently
under the hood of the Silverado 1500.
General Motors has yet to release the horsepower, but it’s expected to get about 287
horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. This new powertrain will most likely be the only
engine offered with the 2023 GMC Acadia.
What Else is New with the 2024 GMC Acadia
The 2024 Acacia will have a new exterior style starting with a new front fascia. It will feature
horizontal upper and lower intakes and newly designed headlights that will feature GMC’s C-
shaped signature lighting. Unlike the new generation Traverse, the Acadia will not have the new
two-tiered headlight design.
Around the back of the new Acadia, both the taillights and rear hatch will have a new look.
Depending on the trim, there will also be a dual exhaust system with square quad tips.
Bigger and Better Than Ever
When the 2024 GMC Acadia arrives on dealership lots it will be larger than the previous
generation. It will fit in the full-size crossover market instead of the midsize market. It will still
have three rows of seats, but its larger size will give occupants more legroom.
More Tech for Modern Driving Needs
In addition to all the exterior updates and the new powertrain, the 2024 GMC Acadia will have
some added safety technology by way of GM Super Cruise. The Super Cruise semi-autonomous
hands-free driving system will be available as an option on the Acadia. This system is a Level 2
driving system that allows the driver to take their hands off the wheel when driving on select
divided highways across the United States. It is not a fully autonomous system but serves as a
driver aid.
There’s still a lot to learn about the upcoming 2024 GMC Acadia. Its powertrain is still in its
finishing stages, but the other engines in the CSS family offer impressive power and efficiency.
Along with this new engine the next generation Acadia will have more space in the cabin, a
sleek and modern new exterior style, and offer hands-free driving.
