This Wild Cadillac Concept Has Gullwing Doors and Can Actually Clean Itself

Cadillac has been working feverishly to create futuristic cars, and its latest creation is the Elevated Velocity concept car.

Meet the car that looks like it drove straight out of a sci-fi movie. Cadillac’s new Elevated Velocity concept comes with gullwing doors that open skyward, 24-inch wheels with crystal accents, and a steering wheel that literally disappears when you want to chill out. Oh, and it has something called “dust-phobic vibration” that shakes sand and dirt right off the paint – because apparently washing your car is so 2024. This thing can switch from luxury cruiser to desert beast in seconds, with different modes for track driving and off-road adventures. It’s like someone asked, “What if a Lamborghini had a baby with a Range Rover and they both decided to move to Mars?”

Are there any limits left?

The Monterey Car Week brought the world a strange and new car from Cadillac that could put some supportive industries out of business. The Elevated Velocity Concept is a car with self-cleaning technology, which means you might not ever need to take it to the car wash to get it shiny. In addition to this interesting technology, this Cadillac can hunch down and handle some spirited driving on the road, or it can lift up and be an amazing off-road SUV.

This electric crossover has large gullwing doors that open upward, giving it a true luxury EV crossover look and feel, which makes it easy to admire what Cadillac has put together in this new concept. As you would expect from Cadillac, the cabin is filled with red Nappa leather and brushed metal accents to ensure a luxury feeling whenever you get behind the wheel.

It looks fast and fun

Unlike most SUVs, this electric performance vehicle is ready to take on the challenges of the roads or trails, but it also has only two doors, making it a coupe that is built for serious fun and adventure. This could be the first electric off-road vehicle from Cadillac, opening up the door to the V-Series future models that have already been revealed, to grab some of what’s offered for some great driving. The Cadillac Elevated Velocity Concept vehicle is more likely to be a platform that can serve to push Cadillac EVs in a specific direction going forward. Despite their newness, the Lyriq-V and Optiq-V could adopt much of what this new Cadillac has to offer.

The sporty appearance comes from the shape, not simply the two-door layout. This luxury USV has a tiny front overhang and a long hood, giving it the look of a vehicle that’s launching forward. The massive wheels are illuminated and fill the arches to add, yet another, sporty element of the drive.

Check out that front end

If you see a connection with the Opulent Velocity, it’s not surprising. This new Cadillac has a large, black central panel in the front that carries the same trapezoidal shape as the grille of current Cadillac models. The headlights are shoved to the edges to give it a much wider look and feel, and vertical LEDs help give an extra feeling of size to the edges of this new electric SUV.

Cadillac’s offsetting colors look great

The new Cadillac Elevated Velocity Concept vehicle wears a striking Vapor Blue exterior paint with gray undertones, giving it the look of glacial ice. This icy cold color is offset by a vibrant red interior that is presented when the large gullwing doors open and reveal two rows of seats with room for four people. The 2+2 seating arrangement gives you room for four people in this new SUV. This red is called Morello Red Nappa leather, which shows up on the doors, floors, headliner and seats. The silver brushed metal, tinted acrylic, and glass accents add a futuristic vibe to the red interior, making this concept vehicle look like it was plucked out of the future.

Elevate mode engaged

The Elevate mode, which is where this concept gets its name, turns on the autonomous driving modes offered in this new Cadillac electric SUV. The steering wheel and pedals are tucked away, which turns the cabin into a great place to relax while the vehicle does the driving. When this mode is engaged, the ambient lighting turns red and the seatback lighting uses infrared light to help each passenger recover from a day of physical activity.

Velocity mode

There’s a Velocity mode in the Cadillac Elevated Concept vehicle, which returns the steering wheel and allows you to drive the SUV fast and hard, like an electric performance vehicle should be driven. There’s also an augmented reality head-up display to provide readings on the windshield where you need them.

The Terra model allows you to take this SUV out on the trails, and the Sand Vision mode is meant to add better visibility in a sandstorm. The Elements defy setting vibrates the vehicle to allow the dirt and sand to shake off using dust-phobic vibrations.

The new Cadillac Elevated Velocity Concept vehicle won’t go into production, but, like many concept vehicles that have come before, it could be the foundation and inspiration for future Cadillac EV styling, performance, and technology, bringing the future to the present.
