Every now and then, I regret leaving the retail side of the automotive industry. Don't get me wrong - there's nothing wrong with the vendor side - but being out of the retail side for 8 years now means I didn't get a chance to play with some of the nifty tools available to dealers today.

One of those tools is Automark Solution's pricing system. In a world dominated by automated pricing based upon market values where the majority of dealers are working with the same pricing recommendations, I know I could kill it at my dealership by focusing on good ol' fashioned pricing intuition. It's not that the data isn't important, but I believe that the ease of pricing vehicles based upon what everyone else is selling them for has become a crutch that has prevented dealers from proper manual pricing.

The problem is that manual pricing takes time. This is where Automark's pricing tool comes into play. They make it easy to price cars properly in a short period of time per month without losing the flexibility that comes with pricing it my way.

Dealers that put in the effort to price their cars manually based upon what they know in their industry while tempering it with knowledge gained about the market will be able to price up or down effectively. That's what I would do if I owned a dealership today.
