Volume in the Rear of the Hyundai Sonata
Storage space in any vehicle is one of the most important aspects of what you can make use of. If you’re a person that typically travels or needs to use the trunk of your car to bring all the stuff for up to five people, it can be important for you to have a large trunk area and know that you can bring all the stuff with you. When you have small children, the items that are required for infants and toddlers tend to take up a lot more space than luggage for older children.
A Big Trunk in the Sonata
If you’re looking at trunk size as one of the key factors in the purchase of your next vehicle, the midsize sedan with one of the largest in the class is the Hyundai Sonata. This truck measures 16.3 cubic feet in space to give you a big area. Typically, full-size sedans offer trunk sizes around 16 cubic feet and in the midsize class, the only trunk that’s larger is the Honda Accord at 16.7 cubic feet. With the size in mind, let’s see if the Sonata trunk is big enough for you.
The Negatives of the Hyundai Trunk
When you open the rear of the Hyundai Sonata to see the trunk, you’ll notice it looks big and spacious, but the opening appears to be a bit narrow because of the roofline that slants downward toward the rear to give you the shape you want to enjoy in your vehicle. Looking inside, the arms of the trunk take up some space as does a speaker and a black box that both hang down into the trunk. These items might cause the trunk area of the Sonata to be less than you think.
Putting Bags in the Sonata Trunk
The trunk area of the Hyundai Sonata is large enough to fit four midsize roller suitcases on their sides. These four bags are more than enough luggage for most families to enjoy a weekend and all four fit nicely together between the wheel well with lots of room to spare in the trunk. By rearranging these bags to a flat layout, two smaller suitcases, that normally fit in overhead bins on airplanes, fit on top of the bigger bags and can be pushed toward the rear seatbacks. There’s still room for a Pack ‘n Play box to fit on top of these bags, and still have some room left on either side to give you a bit of space for something small.
This Truck Passed the Test
While the Hyundai Sonata trunk has a few items impinging on the room inside, there’s a lot of useful space in this trunk to make it easy for you to have the space you want and the comfortable drive you need. If you’ve ever had to ride with items on your lap for hours because the items wouldn’t fit inside otherwise, you’ll appreciate the large size of the trunk you’ll see in the Hyundai Sonata.
