The Rise of Kia’s Electric Revolution

There’s no doubt that Kia is leading the way in the electric vehicle revolution with models ranging from the small Niro EV to the three-row EV9.

It’s only been a few weeks since the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show, where Kia announced its new Beyond Vehicle platform. This is only the next step in the evolution and revolution of electric Kia models that we can expect to be part of our future driving efforts. Let’s take a look at some of the current Kia electric vehicle models that are the start of this amazing revolution.

What does the Kia Niro EV offer?

The Niro EV is an impressive compact electric SUV with a small stance and good driving range, which makes it the perfect little SUV to transition from suburban to urban areas with ease. The powertrain generates 201 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough to push this little SUV where you want it to go. The instant torque offered by the electric powertrain enables the Niro EV to rocket off the line, accelerating ahead of other cars on the road quickly.

This little Kia SUV shows how the brand is leading the electric revolution. While other small SUVs are stuck on city streets, the Niro EV offers 253 miles of driving range, making it one of the most useful vehicles in it’s class. When using a DC fast charger, this Kia EV charges from 10 to 80 percent in about 43 minutes.

Admire the attractive cabin and excellent 10.25-inch dual panoramic screens that give you the desired controls. Behind the rear seats, this little Kia has 22.8 cubic feet of cargo space, which expands to 63.7 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down.

The Kia EV6 makes driving more fun

From the first look to the end of your drive, the 2024 Kia EV6 is one of the most attractive and impressive electric vehicles on the road. You’ll find a wide range of trims, including a high-performance GT model that delivers the power and acceleration to go head-to-head with some of the top models in the market today.

The latest version of the EV6 shows how this impressive Kia continues the electric vehicle revolution with minor upgrades. The Light RWD model used to only be offered in California but is now available at all Kia dealerships. Other models add the larger 77.4-kWh battery pack, and the EV6 GT now has a driving range of 218 miles, which is a 12-mile increase over the previous version.

The power range for this electric Kia SUV is broad. The Light RWD model only produces 167 horsepower, while the range-topping GT delivers 576 horsepower. This top version can hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, which is blistering fast.
If you want the most driving range out of the Kia EV6, you’ll need to choose the Light Long Range RWD, Wind RWD, or GT-Line RWD, all of which deliver 310 miles of driving range.

The new Kia EV9 takes things further

Most electric vehicles don’t come with three rows of seats, but the Kia EV9 does. This is a direct competitor with the Tesla Model X, Rivian R1S, and Volvo EX90. This new three-row electric midsize SUV confirms the Kia electric revolution with excellent features, quality driving manners, and zero emissions.

The base version of the new EV9 produces 215 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque from a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels. The dual-motor AWD version of this electric SUV produces 379 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. This model is good for a sprint to 60 mph in only 5.3 seconds, which is quick for a three-row SUV. A new GT-Line model is forthcoming and should produce at least 516 lb-ft of torque.

The EV9 claims up to 300 miles of driving range using the long-range RWD model. The base version gives you 223 miles of range, while the dual-motor version reaches 270 miles of driving range. Using a DC fast charger, this SUV can add 149 miles of range in only 15 minutes and reach 80% capacity in less than 25 minutes.

Kia continues to lead the electric revolution with new ideas and some excellent additions to the EV lineup. Will you drive one of the current electric SUVs or wait to see what Kia comes up with next? There are sure to be more additions to this EV lineup over the next few years.
