Most cars employ this by braking an inner wheel. However, the Civic Type R goes further by using the brakes at every stage of the cornering process. Honda calls this system Agile Handling Assist. It kicks in to brake slightly on any wheels based on the speed and steering angle of the car.

Clever, Functional Performance

The 2024 Honda Civic Type R’s world-beating performance is thanks to this clever and sophisticated system of brake vectoring. It essentially adjusts the braking pressure depending on the yaw angle it thinks the driver wants, then compensates for any oversteer or understeer to achieve it.

To get this level of predictive driving, the Civic Type R is fully wired with ride height sensors that send information to the computer controlling the adaptive dampers. In other words, Honda engineers have created a custom damping map for almost any situation.

The 2024 Honda Civic Type R might elicit a bit of sticker shock with its $45,000 price tag, but there’s little doubt that this car is a marvel of clever engineering.
