2025 BMW X3: Longer, Wider, More Aggressive

BMW takes a leap forward with improved interior and exterior design. The 2025 BMW X3 showcases these changes to bring an impressively redesigned luxury SUV.

The X3 has been the cornerstone model in the BMW SUV lineup or many years, but its time for this compact luxury crossover to receive some important changes. This new model comes in both the 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive models. You’ll find improved tech features and better engines to give this SUV more of what you want.

Let’s take a look at what the new 2025 BMW X3 has to offer.

Things keep on changing

Vehicles have only gotten bigger. As many automakers began using lighter materials to build vehicles, many models have grown. The new X3 is longer, wider, and lower than the previous model, giving this compact SUV a more aggressive stance than the previous model. The two models have unique design elements to make them easy to distinguish. The 30 model has vertical and diagonal slats, while the M50 has horizontal slates covered in black trim.

The grille on the M50 also has an M badge and a light-up surround, which is standard for the M50 but optional on the 30.

BMW goes conservative

The exterior design of the new 2025 BMW X3 is meant to be more conservative and slab-sided than previous models. The overall appearance brings a design reduced to only “the essentials,” which makes it attractive but not polarizing. The wheel arches are flared on this BMW SUV, giving it the wider and sportier appearance you’re sure to admire.
Looking to the rear, this new BMW has a concave crease in the rear hatch that starts with the taillights and spans the width of this rear door. This feature gives the X3 a distinctive appearance.

The M50 differs from the 30 from behind with the M-like quad exhaust pipes. BMW also gives this new SUV more paint colors, including a Dune Gray metallic, which is a bit of a mixture of tan and gray. You’ll also find a set of wheel options that measure 19-21 inches available across the lineup.

Let’s talk power

The new X3 30 xDrive comes with a new 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-t of torque. These are only slight increases over the outgoing powertrain but still increases that give this SUV more power than before. This powertrain also has a new 48-volt mild-hybrid system to improve efficiency and allow this new version of the X3 to hit 60 mph in 6.0 seconds.

The higher-powered M50 xDrive has a revised version of the 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine that also uses a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This revised powertrain increases power to 393 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, which means more power than the previous model. Although this model has more power, its sprint time to 60 mph remains at 4.4 seconds, as before.

Updates that make driving the X3 better

The new 2025 BMW X3 has other improvements to make it more fun to drive. Both versions have increased rigidity and a wider track. This SUV also received increases in front and rear axle turn-in precision and straight-line stability.

The 30 can enjoy some optional M Sport features, including a new suspension, steering system, and brakes. You can also enjoy a Dynamic Damper Control system, which is an individual option that gives you dampers with less aggressive calibrations. The M50 has a full set of impressive upgrades as well, including the adaptive M Sport suspension, variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, 20-inch wheels, and an M Sport differential.

The interior went wild

The outside of the new BMW X3 might be subdued and conservative, but the interior takes a different approach. You’ll find a completely new design language inside the cabin of this new luxury compact SUC. The M50 has contrasting lighting elements in the console and doors, and the air vents seem to be hidden from view, which gives way to the sharp angles and unique style of this BMW SUV.

You’ll find some familiar items in the cabin, including the Curved Display which operates the iDrive 9 system. This BMW SUV has new woven fabric on the instrument panel. This material is made from recycled polyester.
